How beautiful are these black and white coated animals!? These gorgeous beings can be found at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding located in Sichuan, China. It’s a world class not for profit research facility dedicated to conserving the endangered panda species.
The Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births. The base is also an international educational tourism destination. I highly recommend visiting this place. You are not only supporting a great cause, but your heart will melt when you see these majestic creatures in real life.
The only thing is, they have a very lazy life. So although they’re cute and cuddly, they’re boring to watch too. The only things I watched them do is eat, sleep and pee or poo. I also learnt that it is quite hard to get them to reproduce. Firstly, some are too lazy to mate. Secondly, pandas are very picky with their mating partners. If it’s not the right match they will not mate. With so few other pandas to choose from, it is rare to find a perfect match.
